Amsterdam. A small city of just under 20,000 people. No, this isn't the metropolis of the Netherlands renowned for its red-light district and legal marijuana. This is a small city in the state of New York. Much less conspicuous than its overseas namesake. Just a stone's throw from the Erie River, across the busy interstate and nestled in a corner of a strip mall, is a small building with a prestigious pedigree. For this is the temporary home of the Professional Wrestling Hall Of Fame. Far from the glitz and glamour of the shrines of places like Toronto, Cooperstown, Canton and Springfield, this is a house of history. A three-story building decorated in memorabilia from ages past and present.
The door to the Hall opens and Max Damage enters. He pauses at the door, removes his sunglasses and starts making his way around to the various display cases. Costumes and ring attire from some of the greats.. from the legendary Mil Mascaras to Ivan Koloff.. pictures of wrestling royalty.. Harley Race, Bret Hart.. Max pauses in front of the autographed photo of Harley Race.
Max: It's amazing what some people will do for the sport they love. Look at some of these guys. Especially this one right here. Harley Race. One of the greats of the sport. He gave everything he had to this sport, and now his picture sits on this wall along with so many other legends of the sport. He wrestled some great matches in his time. Didn't matter if it was a technical bout or if it was just flat-out down and dirty, Harley would give you his best every single night. It takes a lot to get into a place like this. You have to shed a lot of blood. Maybe even break a few bones. But in the end, it's a small price to pay for immortality in the minds of the wrestling world.
Max continues to walk the first floor of the facility. He stops at a display case where a robe once worn by "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers is enshrined.
Max: Now here was a guy. The original Nature Boy. The one who inspired Ric Flair. Now there's someone who's going to be finding his way in here one day, if he isn't already. Blood and guts. Every wrestler in here had that going for them. They had the guts to stand in the ring with the best, and they shed a lot of blood to beat them and become the greatest of their time. Kinda reminds me of the blood that you and I shed, Hassim. You remember those matches, don't you, Hassim? The pain...
Camera cuts to a scene of Max pounding Hassim with a fire extinguisher, busting him open.
Max: The blood...
The camera cuts to Hassim raking a barbed-wire baseball bat across Max's forehead, opening a deep gash.
Max: You and I have given a hundred percent every time we have gotten into the ring. I've heard people say that our matches are the stuff that legends are made of. But there's one thing that's never been settled. And that is to find out just who truly is the better man. We've done battle twice. Two different federations. Two different rings. Two different outcomes. Now you and I get the chance to do it one more time. On a third stage. This time, the alphabet soup has come up ACW. One more chance at redemption. One more chance to prove who is the better man in the ring. It's time for us to find out once and for all who will be remembered forever as the man who prevailed in one of the most vicious blood feuds ever.. and who will simply be the afterthought.. the one who couldn't get the job done. Hassim, you go ahead and pray to your gods.. pray for strength. Pray for that extra little something. Because you're going to need it. Hassim, at Carnage, we're going to find out once and for all if the Iraqi Ironman has what it takes to stand toe-to-toe with the One Man Wrecking Machine.
Max makes his way up the stairs to the second floor of the Hall as the camera fades to black.
