The great return of the ACW is at hand. After a multi-month hiatus, the ACW roster is back on the map to show the world what they are all about. In this certainty still lie many questions. Who is the champion? How will he be crowned? Will the ACW be able to survive this run?
Who is the Mystery Z?
Nobody knows much about this man other than the fact that he challenged anyone in the ACW to a match. He really hasn’t spoken much other than that. That has left a void of information that no one has been able to fill, and many want to know what is missing. The first person to possibly answer some or all of these questions is ACW reporter, Kevin Boorse. He is on his way to a small town on the outskirts of Chicago, IL. Just finding the place has already been a challenge for Kevin as not even MapQuest.com knew where this small town was, much less where this building is located. Many phone calls had to go out, but the directions were finally acquired. Now he is almost to the designated address as the sun is setting in the distance. By the time he gets within a mile of the building the sky becomes a pure black. The partial moon is resting in the sky, and a small cloud passes in front of it as Kevin pulls into the front lawn of what looks to be a small ranch home. The front lawn is a little large, but nothing to suggest this was farmland or a plantation. It simply had enough space to park a few cars, which seemed to be missing any other car for this interview. Kevin brings his car to a halt in front of the front door. He pulls out a medium sized black bag as he gets out of the car. He walks to the front door, and sees a little note reading:
“Open me”
He opens the door, and sees that the front door opens to a hallway that runs perpendicular to the front door. The hallway stops immediately to his left, and disappears into the darkness to his right. In front on him, on the wall, appear to be the fragments of what must have been hooks on the wall to hang hats and coats. He follows the hallway that dumps out into a living room. The living room is about as dark as the hallway, but there is a little bit of light resonating from the nearby dining room. There in the dining room was a small table, and a black box sitting on top of it. Two men are standing against the back wall of the dining room, and one of them pushes open the nearby door when Kevin comes into view. Moments later the door opens the opposite direction, and out walks a man wiping his hands off with a small towel. He hands the towel to one of the other men, and walks over to the table.
Man: You must be the reporter we’ve been waiting on. Let’s get this over with so I can finish handling another bit of business while the night is still young.
Kevin: Okay. Are you Mystery Z?
Man: Would I name myself Mystery, and then come out with my face revealed? I don’t think so. The man you know as Mystery Z could not make it here tonight. So we arranged an interview over the phone. Mr. Z, are you there?
Scrambled Voice: Yes. Has our guest arrived?
Kevin: Yes sir, I just arrived. May I ask why we are not doing this interview in person?
SC: The details are inconsequential right now. You just need to take note of what I say in this interview, and take it back to the ACW headquarters for distribution. This will not be your typical question and answer interview as I have matters to deal with. I will be brief, and to the point with all the information that I feel you, and the ACW, need to know.
Kevin: Yes sir.
SC: Now I have not, and will not reveal myself until the appropriate time presents itself. That time has not arrived yet. Just know that it will happen, and maybe sooner than later.
Next point of discussion is the reopening of the ACW. I am here to test the federation to see how strong they are. I challenged anyone hoping to get a response from the best in the ACW to step up. I know very little to nothing about Jonny C, but I have a feeling that he is not the best that the ACW has to offer. I may be wrong, but for the time being I will proceed with the idea that he will be a challenge to myself until I find out otherwise in the ring.
That brings to me to my match. I admire what Jonny C did by standing up where many did not. He accepted my challenge where many looked past it. For this he at least has my respect, but sympathy is another matter. My sympathy for him was lost when he accepted that challenge, that contract of destruction. You see it has been a little while since I last stepped into the ring, but I have lost little to nothing through my absence. The mat once trembled in my presence, and it shall again very soon.
Lastly I want to address the rest of the locker room in the ACW. My match is scheduled between Jonny C and myself. That does not provide safety or comfort to anyone else on the roster. The clock is ticking, and will continue to do so on the night of the return debut of Carnage. When the clock chimes each person’s time is not known, but it will land on each person.
Before I depart I want to send out one last message to Jonny C. Take this match with great unease and imbalance. There is no certainty about this match. The only thing certain is the entire federation will see whether your acceptance of my challenge was foolish or heroic. I tend to lean toward the former than the latter, but we shall see. Just know that respected or not, brave or not, and foolish or not you will get pushed further than ever before. Will you be able to stand the pressure or will you fall? Now take these words back to the headquarters, and spread them around.
Kevin jots down the last few words spoken by Mystery Z, and packs his notepad back in his black bag. He then, without another word, heads back toward the front door. As he leaves the building the third man retrieves the small black speakerphone box, and heads out the door with the other two men. As they heads through the swinging door they enter the kitchen. This room is dark with only the light from the partial moon barely penetrating through the curtained windows. The three of them heads straight to the back of the kitchen to another door. They open that door to the outside where a black stretch limo is waiting with its headlights on, and engine running. When the door to the outside opens, some light floods into the kitchen, and reveals the outline of what looks like a man sitting in a chair sagging forward a little. It looks like something may be over his head, but there is not enough light to reveal anything if there is something over the person’s head. It may not even be a person, but an illusion caused by the shadows. The three men walk over to the back door of the limo, and the window rolls down about halfway. The lack of light inside the limo, and out, makes it impossible to see the person inside.
Voice: Were you able to retrieve anything?
Man: Yes. It’s not a lot, but we were able to get locations of certain key elements within the building. Apparently he had an outing with the president a little while back, and they may have changed some combinations to handle that. We have the other person you wanted to question, and he is being transported to another location as we speak.
Voice: Excellent. Listen we need to be very quick, and thorough about this. I want to make the big reveal soon. So get back with me when our second guest has been questioned.
Man: Yes sir, and Mr. Z, what do you want us to do about him?
Voice: Just leave him. You followed my directions to a tee, right?
Man: Yes sir.
Voice: Then leave, and call me when the other is done.
Man: Yes sir.
The window to the limo rolls back up, and the limo pulls off into the night as the three other men walk towards another car parked nearby. The three of them get in, and take off. The little residence is now once again abandoned into the night. Why did Mystery Z interview over the phone if he was parked behind the building all along? Was it a ploy to make sure the reporter found out very little about him? What is he hiding? One thing he didn’t hide was his comments about his opponent at Carnage, Jonny C. Though he respects the guts it took to stand up to the unknown, he also states that it basically may be his downfall. As Carnage grows closer there are still so many questions to answer, and seemingly riddles to solve. What will Z’s next move be? Carnage…oh how true that word will be come Friday.
